Step 1: Downloaded asc data ( for three latitude bands (0-30N, 0-30S, and 60S-60N) for the dates being graphed. Step 2: Brought data into spreadsheet Step 3: For each of the three latitudes:Converted the temp anomaly K to Fahrenheit by multiplying K value by 1.798, calculated average anomaly baseline for time period of 1901-2000. With the average anomaly calculated, calculated the temperature anomaly using the baseline: Temp Anomaly (F) - Average Anomaly. For each latitude, this result was graphed. Step 4: Copied these values in the data page of SigmaPlot and adjusted scaling of x axes to include data from new years: changed end values to include new data. Step 5: Colored cells in adjacent column blue for below temp average and red for above temp average. Step 6: Double checked that all fonts are “Roboto Light” and that font size and axes labels match with style guide. Step 7: Exported the graph as a png with 600dpi resolution. Step 8: Imported png into Adobe Photoshop and added globes at right of graphs with latitude ranges highlighted, end year 2017 on x-axis, helpers (warmer and cooler), labels indicating latitudes, verified symmetry of all graphical elements, i.e. axes titles, legend, graph title Step 9: Uploaded final graphic onto portal:
