Methodology:

The data were not analyzed.

The Lyme disease data was broken into 8 classes according to the ArcMap Natural Breaks classification function, which classifies the data based on its actual distribution (very heavily skewed right). The classification was then slightly modified from Natural Breaks in order to display the granularity of Lyme disease cases in the smaller New England states since that is where the majority of the cases occurred. The same classification was used for the following years. The color scale used is from Color Brewer and can be accessed here: http://colorbrewer2.org/#type=sequential&scheme=Reds&n=8. County boundaries have been removed, and state boundaries added.

Processes

How the source was modified: The county dataset was modified by adding a new field that added the STATEFP and COUNTYFP fields together in order to get the full county FIPS code. The Lyme disease dataset was then joined to the county shapefile according to FIPS code so that the quantity of Lyme disease cases for each county for each year could be displayed.
