This figure is updated from the figure titled, "Extreme One-Day Precipitation Events in the Contiguous 48 States, 1910–2015" in EPA 2016 by updating the data through 2017 and retitling the figure. This figure also shows the percentage of the land area where a much greater than normal portion of total annual precipitation has come from extreme single-day precipitation events, but does not include a smoothed average line as in the original.
