-Five-year average frequencies were plotted around the mean for the full-time period
-First, COOP stations with less than 10% missing daily precipitation data for the period 1895-2011 were identified. - For each station, the number of events in each year exceeding the threshold was computed. -Next, grid box (1 degree latitude by 1 degree longitude) average values were calculated for each year, by averaging the values for each station available in that grid box. The annual grid box values were used to produce a state value by averaging the values for all grid boxes containing state station data - Then the annual mean number of days in the state was calculated for the full time period, as well as the annual mean number of days for each five-year period.
The duration of this activity was 15 minutes.
