Authors reviewed over 50 technical inputs provided by the public and a wide variety of technical and scholarly literature related to decision support, including reports from the National Research Council that provided recent syntheses of the field (America’s Climate Choices series, especially the reports Informing an Effective Response to Climate Change and Informing Decisions in a Changing Climate). During the in-person meeting, authors reflected on the body of work informing the chapter and drafted a number of candidate critical messages that could be derived from the literature. Following the meeting, authors ranked these messages and engaged in expert deliberation via teleconference and email discussions in order to agree on a small number of key messages for the chapter."^^xsd:string; gcis:descriptionOfEvidenceBase "As part of a sustained assessment, it is critical to understand the state of decision support, including what is done well and where we need to improve. At this point in time, there is a lack of literature that provides a robust evidence base to allow us to conduct this type of national, sector-scale assessment. Developing an evidence base would allow for a movement from case studies to larger-scale assessment across decision support and would allow us to better understand how to better utilize what decision support is available and understand what needs to be improved to support adaptation and mitigation decisions in different sectors and regions."^^xsd:string; gcis:assessmentOfConfidenceBasedOnEvidence "N/A"^^xsd:string; gcis:newInformationAndRemainingUncertainties "N/A"^^xsd:string; a gcis:Finding . ## This finding cites the following entities: <https://data.globalchange.gov/report/nca3/chapter/decision-support/finding/ongoing-assessment-evaluation-accessibility-application> cito:cites <https://data.globalchange.gov/report/nrc-inform-decisions-2009>; biro:references <https://data.globalchange.gov/reference/7ab8b14a-38c7-4128-b0e3-fe1ab65edac0>. <https://data.globalchange.gov/report/nca3/chapter/decision-support/finding/ongoing-assessment-evaluation-accessibility-application> cito:cites <https://data.globalchange.gov/report/nrc-informingresponse-2010>; biro:references <https://data.globalchange.gov/reference/a230ab8f-a284-491a-91cd-45d7b8b32bdf>.
