Sources and Sinks in U.S. Agriculture and Forests
This figure appears in chapter 27 of the Climate Change Impacts in the United States: The Third National Climate Assessment report.
Chart shows annual average greenhouse gas emissions from land use including livestock and crop production, but does not include fossil fuels used in agricultural production. Forests are a significant “sink” that absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. All values shown are for 2008, except wetlands, which are shown for 2003.
