The observed number of extreme precipitation events (annual number of events with greater than 2 inches) for 1900-2014, averaged over 5-year periods; these values are averages from five long-term reporting stations. The number of events is highly variable but exhibits a long-term upward trend, with the most recent 5-yr period experiencing the highest number, about 60% above the long-term mean.
