The observed average summer temperatures for 1895–;2014, averaged over 5-year periods; these values are averages from NCEI’s version 2 climate division dataset. Average annual summer temperatures have been slightly above average over the last decade (2005–;2014), due in part to 2010 (warmest summer on record) and 2011 (3rd warmest). The dark horizontal line is the long-term average of 79.9°F. Source: CICS-NC and NOAA NCEI.
