The Great Plains Ecoregion: Land Cover, Grassland Flux Towers, and Carbon Flux in 2005

Figure 10.4

Western Sydney University
Elise Pendall

This figure appears in chapter 10 of the Second State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR2): A Sustained Assessment Report report.

The land-cover map for the Great Plains Ecoregion (Omernik 1987) was derived from the 2001 National Land Cover Database. The net ecosystem production (NEP) map was simulated based on land-cover type (Homer et al., 2004) and flux tower measurements using weather conditions for 2005. No fire disturbance or land-cover change effects were included. [Figure source: Adapted from Zhang et al., 2011, used with permission.]
