Mid (left) and late (right) 21st-century changes are compared to the 1986–2005 baseline under the low-emissions (RCP 2.6, top) and high-emissions (RCP 8.5, bottom) scenarios. Multimodel ensemble-mean changes are shown where gray dashes indicate areas where changes are small (less than one standard deviation) compared to natural variability. Very hot days are when maximum daily temperatures are above the 90th percentile of current climatology.
