Figure : projected-changes-global-precipitation
Projected changes in global precipitation
This figure appears in chapter 3 of the Climate Change Global Food Security and the U.S. Food System report.
Mid (left) and late (right) 21st-century changes are compared with the period 1986–2005 for low-emissions (RCP 2.6, top) and high-emissions (RCP 8.5, bottom) scenarios. Multimodel ensemble-mean changes are shown where gray dashes indicate areas where changes are small (less than one standard deviation) compared to natural variability. The general pattern is of wet regions becoming wetter and dry regions drier. Source: This figure was produced using CMIP5 model output through the web application “Climate Explorer,”.
