Irrigated Agriculture in the Southern Great Plains
This figure appears in the Our Changing Planet: The U.S. Climate Change Science Program for Fiscal Year 2009 report.
Landsat data show the cause of anomalies in the previous figure between 1982 and 2005 for area 4 near Dalhart, Texas. The red areas show increased green vegetation density due to an expansion of irrigated agriculture in the Southern Great Plains. Credit: C.S.R. Neigh, C.J. Tucker, and J.R.G.
